Station 41, the central
station, houses 3 BLS ambulances that is also staffed with a combination staff
of career EMT's and volunteer EMT's. Station 41, the Washington Hose Company
#1, was founded 1872 and was originally located at the corner of North 3rd Ave
and Chestnut Streets. The station was relocated to the 300 block of Lincoln
highway later on when the "Washies" grew out of the one room firehouse.
The station is now located at the corner of South 4th Ave and Lincoln Highway.
The "Washies" have been in their current building since 1987. The
"Washies" currently house 3 pieces of fire apparatus.
